We are incredibly pleased and proud to announce that our application to the Big Lottery Fund has been SUCCESSFUL! Our community has been awarded a grant of £744,516 to build a new village hall.
This is the result of so much hard work and commitment from countless people over many, many years, and we give our heart-felt thanks to everyone who has given the project their support. We are also very grateful to Big Lottery of course, and all the National Lottery players who have made this possible.
Lyng’s new village hall will completely revitalise our community, transforming the lives of current and future residents. Educational and social groups for children and young people will reduce boredom, improve skills and confidence and raise aspirations. Courses and classes for all ages will improve confidence, prospects and employability. Older residents will have a meeting place, with activities such as an Over 60s Club reducing isolation and improving wellbeing. Preschool activities and services will support new parents and families, improving wellbeing and providing an opportunity to meet others. Community, social and fitness activities will integrate the school, nursery, families and other residents, creating a stronger, healthier, more active community. Those without transport will have regular access to a vibrant community hub, and residents whose paths would not currently cross will have a chance to get to know and understand each other.
We are delighted to have been able to secure this grant for our community, and now look forward to starting work on the next – and most exciting – phase of our project. We still have some money left to raise, but this grant means that Lyng’s new village hall will now be built. We couldn’t be more excited!
